What are virtual realities?

Virtual realities are digital simulations that are seemingly real, meaning they appear in 3D, are interactive, and resemble or represent a real space for people to experience. These spaces can be explored by users and in an educational setting, allow instructors to create a shared space in which to learn and discover. Research shows that students retain much more information when they experience it through virtual reality, compared to just seeing or hearing it.

How can I be creative with virtual realities?

Virtual realities open many doors, especially in the often-restricted environment of online learning. Instructors can create spaces to be whatever they want them to be and can conduct classes in all types of environments, right from their computer! This presents many possibilities.

Students can be creative with their avatar and the way they explore their virtual worlds. They can communicate and interact within the virtual reality, as well as learn and explore new information.

Virtual realities allow you to create your own space, but they also let you explore spaces that already exist but are not within your reach. Through virtual realities, classes can explore museums in Europe or the ancient pyramids!
